I love to work out. My favorites are weight training, walking, and playing sports with my kids. I'm open to trying just about any form, as long as it doesn't involve my biggest fear- heights. But can you believe some people don't enjoy to exercise? Incredible, huh? Actually, it's not that hard to believe since more people don't exercise compared to the amount that do.
Here's 10 reasons why some people have not been able to make regular exercise an enjoyable part of their lives.

1.They're doing the wrong type of exercise.Lazy Lion

2.Their exercise level is too high for their fitness level.

3. Where they exercise doesn't fit their personality.

4. They don't pick the best time to work out.

5. Their surroundings make it hard to enjoy working out.

6. They don't see results.

7. They exercise all by themselves.

8. They have a bad exercise partner.

9. Their diet sucks!

10. They're too stressed out.

So what about you? Do you enjoy exercising? Is there anything that makes working out not fun or unpleasant?

I love to exercise, too! But I gotta admit, I have a super hard time getting motivated in the winter. It's the same story every winter. I think the only solution is to move somewhere warm.

I am absolutely in that group that does not enjoy exercising... but I LOVE the way it makes me feel! So I have to remind myself of that.

    Hi Michelle,

Any particular reason that you don't enjoy exercise?
I'm sure we've been called worse things than weird so that's okay :D

I guess it's true that opposites attract, my wife doesn't like exercise the way I do, either.

Hi Aaron! If there were some way that I could combine facebooking with exercise, I'll bet I would enjoy exercising more! Before Facebook came along, I spent SOME time outdoors exercising. However, now that all my games and friends are right at my fingertips, I find myself sitting on the couch WAY more than I should! :x

Darn technology, wrecking your health :angry-red:

I'd suggest you do a workout (20 - 30 minutes)before logging onto the internet. That way you'll have it done before you run out of time.

I don't know if I like exercising or not. I've been doing it for so long and consistently that it's a habit!

I do like the results I get like being an athlete, opening tight jars, and pulling myself onto the second floor of the house when I get locked out :-)

    Hey Dr. J,

For me, the reason I've been doing it so long is because I love the results and I really enjoy the types of exercises that I do.

Remember to take your keys with you! :)

My mind tends to wander and think of everything else I could/should be doing (laundry, dishes, playing w/the kids, etc). It's better if I'm not on the treadmill- like you mentioned, being aware of what exercises work best for me.

And for the other poster- years ago, there were stationary bikes that you had to peddle to get the attached computer to work! LOL wonder where those are now...

Netpulse is still around. They had them at the Y when I worked there many years back. They had contests where you'd be rewarded prizes based on how much you exercised. According to their site they are still going and growing in health clubs.

I wonder if they branched into the home fitness arena how would they do, and even more important would that motivate more people to exercise regularly?

Hi Aaron. This is a nice list. I believe that there is a threshold that people have to cross. this is the threshold where the physical pain of exercising is less than the mental pain of exercising. After this threshold, it is too painful not to exercise. The challenge as you so rightfully pointed out is overcoming the challenges and getting to that threshold.

    Hey, welcome back Paramjit!

Thanks. It never amazes me how people will convince themselves about how grueling or difficult it is to get started. Then once they do it, they realize it's not that bad. And once they've made it a habit they'll wonder why they didn't start alot sooner.
I'm at the point where working out has become such a regular part of my life, I get edgy if I miss too many workouts.

I like the new look of your Correct-Weight-Loss blog. Nice job!
