16 More Reasons to Train at Home

Created on Monday, 13 January 2014

Not everyone wants to join a gym. I'm lucky to be a member of a very small facility with an even smaller member base, and a very, very small membership fee. It fits me much better than working out someplace crowded.

Even though my specialty is providing in-home personal fitness training I've posted articles about the benefits of joining a gym. I've also written about an exercise center organization that makes fun of some of its members, and also about a creepy gym dweller. Until now I hadn't thought much about the many stereotypical members that can cause some people to dislike going to the gym. While reading Athletic Business' article 'Women-Only Fitness Zones Perpetuate Stereotypes' I saw the video below. I counted 16 offenders that can make working out around others a less than pleasant experience.

How many did you count? If your count was less than mine then which stereotype are you guilty of?

When I was in the quest of losing 134lbs, I did it through home training. I totally believe in home training due to it being so functional. Other reason is that I precisely know what obese / overweight people feel and go through, that this is one of the reasons why I want to go into at home training as well in 5 months time. My goal is not to only help people in their fitness or health goals but to create a love for physical activity and that can easily be done with at home training. Thanks for reading my blog and posting a comment. Looking forward in reading more about you as well.

Hi Marlene,

One of the reasons I specialize in providing in home training is the realization that there are lots of people that are uncomfortable exercising in a gym. Unfortunately getting fit has almost become synonymous with joining a gym and I'm sure there are too many people missing out on the benefits of exercise because they don't believe they can do it at home.

I'm sure you'll find that once you start training others it is a very rewarding career. Plus you'll meet some wonderful people that will become more than clients, they'll be true friends.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it.

Man, that was brilliant! I recognized all of them except the gallon of water guy, so I think that one must be me. lol

Actually, I didn't hate the gym as much as I hate working out. I actually still have a membership, but not sure when I'll get back into it. Seems that thing about developing a habit after so many days in a row didn't work for me. I might have to write about it one of these days... if I haven't already... lol

Well no wonder you didn't like working out, your arms were too tired from lugging around that gallon jug :D

I've worked the the Y where I only saw a handful of the offenders from the video. When I trained at Gold's Gym I saw most of them, plus some others that weren't in the video. And why is it that the guy who sweats buckets never brings a towel?

I think so training at home is much better than going to a gym. Most of the people can't afford Gym expenses. So for real body workout go for home training and eat healthy food that would make you strong and fit for a long time.

Hi Emma,

The cost of a gym membership can be another obstacle for some people's fitness aspirations. Depending on the personal goals, lots of people can get a great workout at home.

I think home training is better than gym, if you a doing job or scholl going student then its much difficult to schedule the proper time for gym, while at home you can do exercise whenever you are free.

As far as believe best way of training is home training… it is better than going to gym, if you are working person or student then it is much tricky to agenda the good time for gym, while when you are at home you can do exercise whenever you get time…

People who exercise regularly have a lower death rate than sedentary people. Exercise stretches and contracts the muscles and stimulates breathing thereby improving blood circulation and lung functions which makes a human body healthy... This is why one must exercise daily at home rather to wait for free time...
