As I write this post I am on my second day back to my normal food/eating routine. I will summarize my vegan experiment in five parts. Today I'll include my nutritional statistics from the last four days of my experiment and the numbers from my last two workouts as a vegan.

The second part goes into detail the ups and downs of the eating plan. For the third I'll fill you in on the physical changes that I experienced. I'll tell you my thoughts on my experience as a vegan in the fourth, and for the fifth Vegan Experiment post I'll let you know of any changes I notice after having been back to my normal eating habits for a week.

Saturday's menu included the following:
8:15 a.m. 1/4 cup almonds, 1/4 cup walnuts, 1 banana, 8 oz. OJ, and 1 nectarine
12:20 p.m. 1 banana, 1 navel orange, and 1/4 cup of almonds
6:00 p.m. 51 cherries (yes, I counted!)
7:00 p.m. 1/4 cup almonds
8:45 p.m. 2 cups of steamed broccoli, 1 cup of corn mixed with 1 cup of black beans, and 1/4 cup of almonds

Saturday's nutritional stats:
1986 Calories (60%), 79 g Fat, 0 mg Cholesterol, 1303 mg Sodium, 294 g Carbohydrates, 112 g Sugars, 56 g Fiber, 59 g Protein

Sunday I ate the following:
10:15 a.m. 1 banana, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/4 cup almonds, 1/4 cup cashews, approximately 3 cups of Santa Claus (Christmas) melon
12:30 p.m. 1/4 cup pepitas and 1 banana
6:00 p.m. 1/4 cup pepitas, 1 carrot and 1 nectarine
9:00 p.m. 1 cup of corn mixed with 1 cup of chili beans

Sunday's stats are:
1508 Calories (46%), 62 g Fat, 0 mg Cholesterol, 1943 mg Sodium, 224 g Carbohydrates, 69 g Sugars, 34 g Fiber, 50 g Protein

Monday I did my push workout. I followed the same routine that I did on the first day of my experiment.

Start time 11:21 a.m.
Barbell chest press: 45 x 15; 115 x 10; 185 x 5; 255 x 3, 2, 2
High Incline DB Press 85's x 10, 10, 10
CG Bench Press super-setted with body weight dips: 205 x 5, 12 dips; 205 x 4, 12 dips; 205 x 5, 12 dips
End time 11:53 p.m.

As you can see I did not do as well with the toughest, heaviest exercise. I did fewer reps and decided rather than risk injury, since I was exercising solo, that I would stop at three sets. This allowed me to do better on all the exercises for the remainder of the workout. Notice my workout time was decreased by three minutes, mainly due to the fact that I skipped the fourth set of barbell chest presses.

Monday's menu:
8:20 a.m. About 3 cups of Christmas melon, 1/4 cup of almonds, and 1/4 cup of cashews
10:45 a.m. (pre workout) 1 banana
12:20 p.m. 1/2 of a navel orange
1:15 p.m. 1/4 cup cashews
4:00 p.m. 1/4 cup cashews
5:00 p.m. 1 cup of coconut water blended with 1 banana
8:30 p.m. 1 baked sweet potato(yam), 2 cups of steamed broccoli, 1 cup of chili beans

Monday's stats:
1754 Calories (53%), 65 g Fat, 0 mg Cholesterol, 1633 mg Sodium, 278 g Carbohydrates, 64 g Sugars, 47 g Fiber, 50 g Protein

Tuesday was pull day. Again I followed the same routine that I performed on day 2.

Start time1:58 p.m.
Super-set:
Seated cable rows 40 lbs. x 20 reps; 60 lbs. x 20 reps
Lat pull downs 75 lbs. x 20 reps, 75 lbs. x 20

Seated cable rows 220 lbs. x 5, 5, 5, 5
Lat Pull-downs 210 lbs. x 5, 5, 5, 5

Super-set
Barbell shoulder shrugs 335 lbs. x 12, 12, 12
with weighted, 55 lbs, chin ups 8, 8, 8
End time 2:42 p.m.

Except for the shoulder shrugs, I was able to increase the resistance on everything. I could have gone up in weight for the shrugs but the weighted pull ups had priority for progression.

Tuesday's menu:
8:20 a.m. About 3 cups of Christmas melon, 1/4 cup of almonds, and 1/4 cup of cashews
1:30 p.m. 1/4 cup of almonds, 1 banana
3:30 p.m. 1/4 cup cashews
5:40 p.m. 1/8 cup almonds
8:45 p.m. 1/2 cup of butter beans, 2/3 cup of country trio vegetables (carrots, corn and green beans), a smoothie with 8 oz. OJ, 4 oz. of coconut milk, 1 cup of strawberries and 1 banana

Tuesday's stats:
1841Calories (56%), 96 g Fat, 0 mg Cholesterol, 653 mg Sodium, 227 g Carbohydrates, 81 g Sugars, 30 g Fiber, 45 g Protein

My next post will be about the positive and negative aspects of my vegan eating experiment.
